This is not going to be one of those holier than thou post. I don’t believe I am perfect by any means. I do try to live my life by Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 NIV
This is how I was brought up. The old saints would say you got to live right if you want to see Jesus. Now a days we want anything and everything to be acceptable.
To be holy requires holy actions. You have to act accordingly. You can’t do and say anything you want at anytime.
The word says “No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.” 1 John 3:6 NIV
The grace of God is not a license to sin. I am grateful to serve a God who will forgive us when we fall but after that, he expects us to go and sin no more. If we continue to sin are we really a child of God?
As Christians, we are Christ representers in the earth. We are the only Jesus some people will see. Our lives are on display. Whether you are in ministry and have a title or someone who goes to church every now and then your life is no longer your own. Every thought and every action you do is no longer of your own authority.
You cannot accomplish this walk on your own. Your flesh has to die daily. When you give in to your thoughts, your ways and your desires you will slip up every time.
Remember those W.W.J.D. bracelets! They were designed with the idea that you would pause and really think about the action you were about to do. I know we are not Jesus but my prayer is that as we grow in Christ our minds are renewed, our thoughts transformed so that God is pleased and he get the glory.
A songwriter wrote the sentiments of my heart, “I want to live Holy so that I can live forever”. I want to see his face in peace. The word promises us this “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:23 KJV
Get to know Jesus, open up your heart. Learn of him! Find out what pleases him, not yourself. Your life is not your own. Present yourself accordingly!
