Holiness or Hell

This is not going to be one of those holier than thou post. I don’t believe I am perfect by any means. I do try to live my life by Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is how I was brought up. The old saints would say you got to live right if you want to see Jesus. Now a days we want anything and everything to be acceptable.

To be holy requires holy actions. You have to act accordingly. You can’t do and say anything you want at anytime.

The word says “No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The grace of God is not a license to sin. I am grateful to serve a God who will forgive us when we fall but after that, he expects us to go and sin no more. If we continue to sin are we really a child of God?

As Christians, we are Christ representers in the earth. We are the only Jesus some people will see. Our lives are on display. Whether you are in ministry and have a title or someone who goes to church every now and then your life is no longer your own. Every thought and every action you do is no longer of your own authority.

You cannot accomplish this walk on your own. Your flesh has to die daily. When you give in to your thoughts, your ways and your desires you will slip up every time.

Remember those W.W.J.D. bracelets! They were designed with the idea that you would pause and really think about the action you were about to do. I know we are not Jesus but my prayer is that as we grow in Christ our minds are renewed, our thoughts transformed so that God is pleased and he get the glory.

A songwriter wrote the sentiments of my heart, “I want to live Holy so that I can live forever”. I want to see his face in peace. The word promises us this “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Get to know Jesus, open up your heart.   Learn of him! Find out what pleases him, not yourself. Your life is not your own. Present yourself accordingly!

Experience is the best teacher!

There is an old saying that experience is the best teacher. No one can take my experiences away from me. They are what has made me the woman I am today. My experiences with God at an early age is what has made me the believer I am today.

At a young age I would feel the presence of God so strongly. I didn’t know what is was. My parents were going through a divorce and I was in pain. God began to heal my hurt. He was drawing me and pulling me closer to him. By the time I was 8 or 9 I was hooked. I asked my parents for a bible for Christmas. There were things I would tell only God and then a prophet would come to our church and tell me everything I just prayed. I was convinced! It has been that way ever since. He is constantly showing me that he hears me, that he is concerned about me. No one can take that from me.

Someone once asked me would I be a Christian if I wasn’t raised this way. The answer is most definitely yes! I know there are many religions out there but only one of them says” Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”. (Matthew 11:28)  Rest for your souls! A true peace, no more suffering, deliverance from testing and trials of this world. The word says lets us strive to enter that rest so that no one may fall into disobedience. This rest is spiritual and eternal.

The Bible is not just a book. It is a living word. However, you can’t just open it and try to read it by yourself. You have to pray and ask God to reveal it to you. You have to pray for understanding. You have to turn on your worship music, get in his presence then open it up. Otherwise you may fall asleep, or think how can this apply to me. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

I mean this thing. I don’t play with God. It’s not an on again off again thing for me. I believe in God! I believe in Heaven! I believe in Hell! We serve a living God!He is always present! You may chose to ignore it but when you accept his will for your life you won’t see things the same again. The word of God says in Psalms 34:8, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him”. Please try this thing for yourself. Maybe you are on the fence, unsure about what direction to go in. I promise you if you open your heart to him you will never be the same.

Dear God

I just want to say thank you! Most of all because of who you are. You are Lord! My King! My Father! What an awesome privilege it is to be your daughter. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for your mercy. I don’t deserve your love but you love me anyway. All creation declares your glory and splendor. What can compare to you? Words can’t even describe your greatness. Yet you still look out for me. What is man that thou art mindful of him?

Lord, keep me, save me, wash me. As the deer pants after the water, so does my soul long for you. You are my desire. Nothing else matters. When I stumble, forgive me, create in me a clean heart. Give me a heart like yours. Help me stay on my knees. I want to be in your presence. Pass the gates, through the courts into the holies of holies. Lord, whatever you are doing in this season, don’t do it without me.

Lord, let this prayer not be just empty words, but hear my prayer. Make it acceptable unto you. Show me your glory and your power so I might serve you. It’s all for your glory, all for your kingdom. You don’t need me but I need you. I don’t want to make a move without you. Help me decrease my flesh so that your spirit will increase in me. I want to walk with you daily. I will forever chase after you…
